Weekend Update!
I just tried to upload my pictures from this weekend, but the computer wasn't having any of it! Oh, well. I will just try to tell you about our Thanksgiving weekend sans pictures.
Our weekend started early on Tuesday when Grandpa Jeff and Great Grandpa and Grandma Nank came to visit. It was the first time Evalie had met her Great Grandparents. It was very cool to see my Grandmother holding my baby girl. They stayed for a good part of the day, and we loved having them here.
After working all day Wednesday, we headed to Indiana for the big Thanksgiving celebration. We had a huge dinner with all the fixings and completely stuffed ourselves. My mom always invites tons of friends over on Thanksgiving night to eat appetizers and desserts and play games. This year yhe game of choice was Apples to Apples. This was my first time playing, and I have to say, I am a huge fan! We all had lots of fun, ate too much, and stayed up too late.
Black Friday started without a usual shopper. I love to go out early on Black Friday, but was too sleep deprived to do it this year. It is amazing how a baby will change you're life. Evalie slept well that night and I actually got to sleep in!
Juls, Melanie and I went to our friend Emily's house. She is a stylist, and we all got our hair cut. Mellie got a trim, and Juls and I went drastic. We had decided when we were both pregnant to grow our hair out and then donate it to locks of love. We were ready for our makeovers. Julianne got 10 inches cut off and I got 12 inches cut off. I feel lighter. I really like the cut (here is where pictures would be great). It's easy to do, and I feel younger and sassy. It helps that Alex likes it too.
Alex, Evie and I went over to my Aunt Cheryl's on Friday night to spend time with her family, my dad, his wife, and my grandparents. We just sat around and talked and enjoyed each other's company. We don't get to see them very often so it was nice. Oh, we had Reese's stuffed peppers for dinner. Yummy!
Then we went to my Aunt Denise's (an honorary aunt) for leftover extravaganza! And there we tried to take pictures of Jerzie, Evalie and Camden together. (again, pictures would be worth a thousand words here) If you have ever tried to take pictures of an almost 2 year old and two babies, you know our pain. We did get a couple cute shots, but it was stressful.
On Saturday we headed back to Aunt Cheryl's for Festivus! Festivus is the Nank family Christmas celebration the weekend of Thanksgiving. This year was extra special. Usually most of the clan is there. But this year we ALL were. My grandparents, their four kids and spouses, us 5 grandkids and spouses, and now 3 great grand babies. That made 22! It was a lot of fun to spend time with our family. The time went way too fast, and we were sad to leave. \
And now we are back to normal life. Well, as normal as you can get in the holiday season. I truly enjoy Christmas, and I am looking forward to celebrating this year with Evalie. Her First Thanksgiving is over, but her First Christmas is just beginning!

Praising God
I just have to post a word of praise on behalf of Evalie and myself. God truly is watching over us and I thank him everyday for taking care of my precious baby.
On Wednesday I was sitting in our vehicle at a stoplight (on the way to Walmart, of course!) when the van in front of me decided to back up. I saw his reverse lights and honked the horn, but he hit me anyway. After a very long time at the side of the road with a very kind police officer, we continued on our way to Walmart. There was very little damage to the SUV. His hitch hit our license plate and dented it. And no one was hurt. I was very shaken up though. My baby was in the car, for pete's sake! She is fine though. We did take her to the pediatrician to make sure she was ok. The Doc said she looks great! (She weighs 15 pounds now). I do have some sore muscles in my shoulders and back, but other than that I'm fine too.
So my praises...
I praise God that He was watching over us. That the accident wasn't worse than it was. That everyone was safe, especially Baby Evalie. That He kept me calm (mostly) during the whole situation. That He gave me a wonderful husband who drove out to the accident to make sure we were okay. I am so thankful for all of these things and so much more.

Bummed!
I know that I have not posted in quite a while. So I came to the church tonight to post a few pictures of our baby girl, and I had technical difficulties once again. The problem only seems to happen when I have lots of pictures on my camera. So I will soon be going to my local digital developer place to develop pictures. Then I can empty my memory card and start over. I do apologize to all the Evalie fans out there. I know you are missing out on one super cutie, but I promise to post a picture soon.
There is a blog I read every once in a while that the blogger posts on specific days of the week. I think it is a great idea, but I'm not sure it will work for me. Maybe I will try it. The only question is "What 2 days?"
For those inquiring minds, the reason I have not posted in a while is that our lives have been terribly busy. And not in a good way. Unfortunately there have been a few people sick and in the hospital (sadly followed by death) this past week. So Alex has been in the hospital, officiating funerals, and comforting grieving family members. And I have been doing what I can to help out. Hopefully life will settle down to its usual craziness, and we will get back to our normal abnormal lives. That is the life we are used to. Just in time for the craziness of the holidays of course. That being said, we are blessed that we have not just buried a family member, and my heart is sad for our friends who have.
So, I will say good night. Look forward to an updated picture of Evalie soon!

IWU Trip
On Tuesday our church was being used as a polling location, so Alex and I could not be in the office all day. Alex and I took the opportunity to make a trip up to IWU. We have not been there in a very long time. It has changed a lot since graduation. Alex was able to make appointments with a couple of former professors to talk ministry. One Prof asked him to join a class to talk to the students about real life ministry. Apparently it is a little different than what you imagine in school.
We all got to hang out for a few hours with some friends who are on staff there.

We had a great time! It was a long day, but totally worth it to see our friends. We miss them a lot!

Evalie is not a fan of Tummy Time. But I know that it is a good learning experience for her. She learns to hold up her head, roll over, and eventually crawl. This is what happened Monday night right before bed time.

GONE!!!Our little girl rolled over. We made her do it 5 or 6 times. It was great! She is getting so big and so smart and so strong. I love watching her learn. Now we just have to keep practicing!

2 Month Check-Up
Miss Evalie was 2 months old yesterday. And of course that means a visit to the Doctor. First we have to undress her. Then she gets weighed and measured.
Evie is 14 lbs now. She is 24 1/2 inches long. And her "hat size" is 15 1/2 inches. She is growing fast!
Dr. Allee has to check her out and make sure our baby girl is healthy. She is!
And then we wait for the bad stuff! I know that the shots are good, but they make her cry. And me too! So now she is sleeping, and I think that I might take a nap too. Please pray that Miss Evie is not too fussy today. Playing Outside
Yesterday was a beautiful day, so Evalie and I decided to take advantage of it. We bundled up and headed outdoors. We just layed on a blanket and played with toys. Evie really liked looking at the leaves, and she enjoyed the breeze in her face. I don't have pictures of it, but we played on the swings too. That is one of my favorite things. I think Evalie is going to be a fan of the swings as well. She smiled the whole time we were on them. I am hoping that we can enjoy some more outside time together before it gets too cold.
