A Busy Weekend

This was a very busy weekend. On Friday, we headed to Auntie Juls' for a little time with cousins Jerzie and Camden. We all headed to Indy on Saturday to see Auntie Melanie in her cheerleading competition. The CC Cheer Squad placed and are going to State in 2 weeks! We are very proud of Auntie Mel! She was the best on the squad, that is for sure! Evalie had a lot of fun watching the cheer competition. She got passed around to everyone. She even got to spend a little time with Grandpa Mel.

Then, of course, today we went to church. Daddy preached a great sermon on the masks that we wear. He did a great job, the annointing of the Holy Spirit was definitely on him today. You could feel His presence in the sanctuary. And many people responded to the alter call. Praise the Lord!

So, we have some pictures of Evie from church today. Tonight (in a few minutes really) we have our church's annual Trunk R Treat. Evalie will be dressing up as a...well, I'll wait and let you see the pictures.

Tummy Time!

Miss Evalie does not enjoy tummy time so much. But she is doing really well with it. She holds her head up for a long time. I say she is doing her push ups. Pretty soon she'll be starting to roll over. I can't believe how fast she is growing.

Evie Loves Her Daddy!

I think my baby is going to be a Daddy's Girl! She is already headed in that direction. They really are adorable together. They sit and "talk." Alex asks Evie about her day, and Evalie just coos at him, like she really is telling him stories. And after the conversation ends, Daddy plays his favorite game. He starts talking in a Yoda voice! I am not too fond of the voice, but Miss Evalie loves it! She stares at him and smiles. It is quite cute. They are definitely developing a bond that will last a lifetime.

Yesterday during church, Evalie was sleeping during the worship music. But sure enough, she woke up and started fussing during the prayer time and sermon. While she was fussing she heard her Daddy's voice. She stopped fussing, started looking around and then she found him. She just stared at him for a long time. I'm glad we were close enough to see him. It was amazing to see her recognize his voice and search him out.

I absolutely love our little family. We are all growing together, bonding together. I am glad that Evalie and Daddy are so close. I am beginning to think that if I didn't have the milk they wouldn't need me at all! :)

Sleepless Night

Last night was not a very productive one in the sleep area. At least not for Evalie and me. As we were getting ready for bed, a news bulletin came on the TV. There was a massive series of storms that was getting ready to come through the area in the middle of the night. These storm systems already were producing tornados, so Alex and I thought it was a good idea to spend the night in the basement.

After transfering all our stuff to the basement family room and making up the futon, we finally settled in for the night. But Evalie was not going to have any of it. I don't know if it was the storm or a different sleeping arrangement, but Evie woke up every two hours crying. (It could also be that she is having a growing spurt.) She would eat and go back to sleep. Except at 5:30 this morning, Miss Evalie thought that was a good play time. I know that many people get up regularly at 5:30 or earlier. But not me. That was a bit too early. Especially after a sleepless night. So today, we are chilling in our sweats. And Evalie is napping. (I actually have to get some work done) Hopefully tonight will be better. Oh, and no tornados hit in our area!

Weekend Update!

It feels so strange that I haven't posted in a while. But Evalie and I were in Indiana visiting family and friends. We left last Thursday to visit Grandma Joy. On Friday we went to the nursing home to meet Great Gramma Kaylor. This was an important visit for Momma. I was very close to my Gramma growing up. Even though it is hard for me to see her in a nursing home, it was very special to see my Gramma holding my baby girl.

On Saturday Evalie and I went to see Uncle Robert play football. He scored 2 touchdowns and even tried for a field goal. His shoe went farther that the ball though!

In the afternoon Grandma Joy had a Baby Party for Evalie and her cousin Camden. It is my mom's way of having a baby shower. It is kind of a "meet my grandbabies" party. It was so nice to see friends and family from Indiana.

In the evening Evalie and I went to see Junior Miss with Auntie Juls and Camden and Auntie Mel and "cousin" Carly. Junior Miss is a wonderful scholarship program for high school seniors. I was honored to be named Whitley County Junior Miss in 1998. I try to go back to see the program as much as possible. I wonder if they have a Junior Miss program in my area in Ohio.

So moving on to Sunday. Church. At Trinity EPC. Mom "made" Julianne and me sing with her. It was amazing to sing with them again. I love the harmonies we can produce. It has been a loooong time since we have had that joy of singing together.

Then Sunday evening we all headed to my Aunt Cheryl's in Warsaw. Grandpa Jeff drove down from Chicago to visit his three wonderful grandchildren (not to mention his 2 favorite daughters). Aunt Ro made lasagna rolls and brownies (Yummy!). It was so nice of her to open her home to us. We just got to sit and visit. Very lovely!

When we got back to Mom's, she had a fire going. I think all of us girls sat by the fire until midnight or so. We had a great talk. I miss my sisters and my mom a lot. They are very special women to me. And I am glad that Miss Evalie is a part of that legacy.

Then Monday we headed home. To a very happy Daddy. He missed his girl A LOT!

Tuesday I had my six week appointment. My midwife Margie released me to be a normal person again. Yay!

And that brings us to today. And the frustration that is technology. You see, I had lots of pictures from the various activities this weekend. And I tried 4 times to upload them to the computer to share with you. But no such luck. I am very sad, because Evie looked adorable all weekend. As usual! So hopefully I will get a recent picture on here soon. She changes so quickly. She is growing up fast.
